Greg Abel '94

Greg Abel is currently employed by SHI, Inc., supporting local governments across Louisiana select, deploy, and manage technology. He previously spent over 20 years in healthcare working in pharmaceuticals and molecular diagnostics across the southeast. Greg credits his years of success and accomplishments to a single quote from Hannibal Barca, “Aut viam inveniam aut faciam.” The Latin to English translation is, “Either I will find a way, or make one.” His mission is to leave a legacy by empowering everyone he meets and works with to be their best selves, think from another’s viewpoint, play to their strengths and be confident in their own unique perspective.

Greg graduated from Archbishop Rummel High School in 1994.  While at Rummel, Greg played football, was an active member of several clubs, and met his wife of 22 years, Kelly. Following graduation, he earned a bachelor of science in healthcare marketing from the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg.

In his spare time, Greg can be found operating the scoreboard at Rummel football games (a role he assumed when his father stepped down after 29 years), coaching little league baseball, attending an abundance of sporting events, and pursuing his number one passion, his family. Greg and Kelly (a former Chapellette) have 4 children, Kendall (Rummel Cheerleader), Brinley (Rummel Cheerleader), Addison, and Carson (a future Raider).

Ben Bertucci.jpg

Archbishop Rummel High School has been part of my life since my childhood. As a legacy, I grew up attending many Rummel functions and events. In 2008, I graduated Rummel then went on to obtain my Bachelors and Masters degree of accounting from UNO in 2015, and then became a CPA.

In 2015, I began working in public accounting for one of the largest southern based accounting firms. In 2019, I transitioned into a corporate accounting position for an international metal recycling company. Over the past three years I have served as a board member for a non-profit organization. Now that I have completed my term, I see this opportunity as a chance to give back to the Rummel community. I believe I am ready to serve the Rummel Alumni Association by leveraging my skills and abilities to contribute to the team.
